The Book
When my Mom was nearing the end of her life, she told me, “maybe I shouldn’t tell you this, but your first grade teacher told me that she didn’t believe you would ever amount to anything”. My Other Career
My main career has been that of software Engineer, over the years working for Sperry Univac, Unisys, Paramax, Loral, Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Collins and Leidos, on such projects as DDG993, CG-26, CPF, AN-UYK43, P-3 Orion, CH53K and the FAA ERAM systems.

Learning German
I was born and raised in New Ulm. At that time there were still many old timers who spoke German, but as time had passed, their German became sprinkled with English words pronounced with German accents. My Dad owned a furniture store and his father helped him run it. I can remember many afternoons that my grandfather and an old timer would talk for hours in German.
